Coleman-style camping stoves?
Does anyone have experience using Coleman camping stoves, the 2 - 3 burner 'family' type? Is it messy/smelly using the dual-fuel system (e.g. unleaded petrol), compared to butane gas cylinders? is the Coleman type hotter? Quicker to cook? Reliable? More economical? Cheers!

I never cared for the liquid fuel type stoves, too complicated, too many moving parts to wear out. I have a Coleman Guide series 3 burner stove. I run it off a 20# tank like those found on most gas grills.

There are LP stoves available for just about every need.

The link below is the one I have, check out the others.
in boy scouts we use Coleman stoves that take a propane tank the size of the tanks on those portable propane lanterns (the mid size green tanks). They work great!!
I have an old Coleman two burner stove. Not to hard to use, need to pump the tank to create pressure for the burners. Creates a good flame, boils water, etc.

Not as easy as a propane stove.
I've owned/used both liquid gas and propane coleman stoves. The biggest problems with the gas types are carrying the larger and heavier liquid gas, and then filling the stoves tank. It's pretty easy to spill gas and have it get into things you don't want it getting into. The propane burns about the same heat wise and is much more convenient.
I have a coleman stove from the 60's that is white gas. No it is not unladed. It is refined more. Just fill up the tank and pump it up. It is not smelly or hard to do. Pluss the other stoves DO NOT USE BUTANE. That is propane. The difference is propane cylinders if you use the small ones can be expensive. A gallon of white gas costs about 3 bucks and it will last you a really long time. White gas and propane cook at about the same temp. Personaly I think they are about the same. I have a propane stove too and really if you take care of them they both work about the same..
